Lagos increases mobile intensive care units

LAGOS— THELagos State government, yesterday, increased its Mobile Intensive Care Units, MICUs,  to 27 with the procurement of additional five MICUs in an effort to save more accident victims in the state.

It has also concluded plans to build more accident and emergency centres in the state.

State Commissioner for Health, Dr. Jide Idris, in a chat with newsmen in Lagos, said the decision was informed by the seriousness the state government attached to issues of emergency response.

Idris noted that the development would boost emergency response operations in the state, explained that the five new mobile intensive care units were basically an upgrade of  the Mobile Clinics already in use.

According to him, the new  MICU have enhanced features such as defibrillator, monitoring equipment, extra stretchers, wheel chairs and neck collars, Twin Cross main stretcher with matter, belts and floor fastener; two Oxygen cylinders of 100 liters each; Scoop Stretcher; Twice foldable reserve stretcher; extrication device; Collar Cerviflex; Ventilator Spencer 170; Emergency Case Circulation; Accu Vacu Suction Pump; and Sphygmomanometer, among others
