Christian men charged to uphold order

By Emmanuel Aziken
Christian men should reverse the disorder in their homes which has seen their wives ahead of them in spiritual affairs, Bible teacher, Mr. Gbile Akani has said.

Speaking at the plenary session of the Men’s Convocation last weekend, Akani who is leader of the Peace House mission team said it is the desire of every virtuous woman to have her husband stand among the leaders in every society.

”The climax, the joy and the fulfillment of a virtuous woman is when she sees her husband among the elders in the land,” Akani said. The retreat gathered thousands of men including traditional rulers, politicians and Christian disciples from across the country to the retreat ground at Gboko, Benue State.

Drawing from the convocation theme “Men at the Gates” Akani charged the gathering to position themselves firmly at the gates into their homes and professions so that satanic devices would not sneak into their homes and offices. According to him women who seek counsel from outsiders do so because their husbands have abandoned their position at the gate or have not been properly formed.

Stressing the urgency on men to take control, Akani said even if a wife has a passion for God, the husband who lacks spiritual understanding would inevitably pull her down.

”To be a man you have to be robust so that the woman can come out of you,” he said.

Continuing he said: “When the bible says that if a woman has a question in church that she should go and ask her husband at home it is because the husband is expected to know.”

Flaying wife beaters he said that such men were ignorant of the fact that they are on a higher level and inevitably prove that they are failures.

Mr. Akani further charged men to the fact that they are the ones posted out on God’s assignment affirming that wives are only supposed to be helpers to them.

The meeting continues today with professional workshop groups among other activities.
