LAGOS —THE Lagos State House of Assembly has set up a three-man committee to investigate allegation of financial misconduct against the General Manager of the Lagos Emergency Management Agency, LASEMA, by the aggrieved Internally Displaced People, IDP at Ajegunle in Agboyi-Ketu area of the state.

The committee followed an extensive deliberation on the petition by aggrieved flood victims, who alleged irregularities in the disbursement of funds to the victims by LASEMA.

The committee headed by the Deputy Chief Whip, Mr Rotimi Abiru, is expected to report back to the House today.

The aggrieved flood victims claimed in the petition that there were disparities in the disbursement of the money given to them by officials of the agency, instead of the N50,000 earmarked by the state government.

Hundreds of IDP at Ajegunle in Agboyi-Ketu area had staged a demonstration to the state House of Assembly, over non-payment of the compensation the state government had early promised.

It will be recalled that the state government last week evacuated  the IDP from the state Relief Camp situated in Agbowa, a border between Ikorodu and Epe Local government Areas of the state.

Some of the victims, who had earlier staged a protest in Alausa during which some of them were arrested in the process, told Vanguard, no fewer than 70 former occupants of the relief camp had been detained by the Task Force on trumped up charges, and called on Governor Babatunde Fashola to intervene and help free the detainees.
