ENUGU—AUTHORITIES of the Madonna University, Okija – Nigeria have disowned one Kolade Olajide, an armed robbery suspect arrested by the police in Ekiti State who claimed to be a student of the university.
The robbery reportedly took place at Moferere Ajabamidele, Ado Ekiti in Ekiti State where a police constable was said to have been killed during the robbery.
In the confessional statement of Olajide, he claimed to be a 400 level medical student of Madonna University, Okija, a statement that the university described as untrue and embarrassing.
In a statement issued by the Registrar of the university, Mr. Theo Ugwoke, the authorities of the university said that investigations in the Registry Department showed that the said Kolade Olajide never enrolled as a student of the institution.
The statement said that the suspected armed robber’s claim that he was a former student of Obafemi Awolowo University and Madonna University was a enough discrepancy to rebuff the claim.
Ugwoke, however, urged the general public to ignore the publications, as according to him, Madonna University “remains a university in the country, free from act of immorality or crime.”
