ENUGU – Enugu State House of Assembly said, yesterday, that it would commence the process of domesticating the Freedom of Information,FoI, Act in order to promote good governance and accountability in government.

Chairman, House Committee on Information, John Ukuta, who said this  in Enugu after the inauguration of the committee by speaker of the House, Eugene Odoh, added that the Assembly would prioritise the FoI Act  to ensure that it became effective in the state within the shortest time possible, for good governance and accountability in government.

Ukuta, who is also Deputy Leader of the House and member representing Uzo-Uwani Constituency, said the new Enugu State House of Assembly would build a synergy with the executive arm of government and the media to realise the goals of the government.

He said: “This committee has just been inaugurated and we are going to work with the executive arm of government and the press to ensure that the goals of the state government are achieved.

“The FoI Act will be given priority attention as soon as we settle down for business.”
