I got Maximum support I needed from my Family – Emperor Geezy

G-Worldwide is fast becoming the Nollywood hub, investing in Africa entertainment. Over the past few years, G-Worldwide has dominate the airwaves, with Iceberg Slim, Kizz Daniel, Sugarboy, and DJ Shabsy.

Emperor Geezy’s G-Worldwide, however, spent most of its years in courts, with former act Kizz Daniel. Festus Ehimare, the CEO, and founder of G-Worldwide, who recently signed Easy Jay, and Ajura. Share’s his story with Vanguard, “My Dad, was a civil engineer and a retired foreman at the Nigerian Port Authority; and my Mom was a trader”

Who is Emperor Geezy?
Emperor Geezy is an entrepreneur, who was born on 15 May 1987, in Ajegunle. He listened to good music with a mix of Afrobeat, Ghetto, Afro-Jazz to Rap, from the likes of Fela Kuti, and many more. Before I became Emperor Geezy, as Festus Ehimare, I have always dreamed, about this moment.

Did you get support, from your Family?
In time, I did, but firstly they wanted me to finish school, and get a regular job. Mind you, my Dad, Mr. Patrick Ehimare was a civil engineer and a retired, foreman at the Nigerian Port Authority. So, he had the idea of me getting a white-collar job, and there was no excuse I could give him. I studied Entrepreneurship and Business Management from National Open University of Nigeria, where I came out with 2nd class upper.

At the other hand, I had my Mom, Mrs. Elizabeth Ehimare, who was a trader, and my mentor. I know I got that hustling Vibes from her, LOL!. If I may say, A lion would never give birth to a goat, LOL!. When it all started happening for me, my family gave me the maximum support, I could ever think of, before the doors of investment was opened to my company “G-Worldwide Entertainment”.

Did you start as a producer?
I didn’t start off as a producer, I started off as a Rapper even tho; I never actually got on a song lol. I’ve been a lover of good music from my childhood days and I used to rap during my primary and secondary school days with friends, in Cardoso High School.

What are the challenges you faced, while going into the entertainment business?
The challenges I faced while going into the entertainment business back then was to get people to appreciate and accept my artiste, because it was looking like no one was seeing what i saw but were just about money.

At what point, did you decide, you were ready to run a record label?
It started off back in 2010 by trying to support a friend “Iceberg Slim” who just got into Nigeria from United States of America and his brother Rico White who was a close friend of mine and was already with me. We were all living together at my abode with my brother “Ray Skaleey”. Iceberg had an excellent talent in rapping but did not have the right financial support from the platform he was unofficially signed too, few months into supporting his musical career under a different platform that wasn’t doing so much for his career as expected he later parted ways with the label, then I promised to form my own label and have him signed to take care of business professionally. I later picked interest in other talents from the likes of “Sean Tizzle” with a great talent and I had this burning desire to see their talents being heard and their dreams being actualized. Upon expiration of their contracts, I had learnt a few things and restructured G-Worldwide Entertainment to sign Kiss Daniel and later Sugarboy.

What should G-Worldwide fans expect from you?
Fans should expect nothing less than greatness with time!
