Tech Unite Africa, TUA, is a global gathering of technology companies, experts, enthusiasts, and the general public. A number of seminars, training and conferences on themes relating to the development of Africa’s tech economy were being held throughout the event on Wednesday, March 16.

In the event’s start-up component, aspiring tech entrepreneurs were allowed to share their dissenting opinions on the subject matter.

The event, which was held at Muson Centre in Lagos had in attendance techies across the Africa continent. Present at the event are Agboola Joshua, one of Africa’s youngest techprenuers; Aderemi Adejumo, an expert in Cloud computing; Galen Crawley, a Senior Analyst on the Africa desk at G3, a leading London-Based business intelligence firm; Clara Wanjiku, the CEO and Co-Founder of Credrails; Naryzhnyi Omowale, the MD/CEO of E-Discovery, Chukwuma Osahor, a Fintech Enthusiast and Heads Digital Partnerships at Africa’s Largest Bank, Access Bank Plc, among others.

Speaking on the essence of the programme, Jidenna Iwuno who is the Project Manager of TUA said; “Basically, we understand that just last year, Nigeria tech industry raised about 1.7billion dollars into the economy when we were struggling.

So, tech is the next big thing and bigger than oil (petroleum industry). “The programme is put up together for stakeholders in the tech industry to network, share ideas and see growth opportunities,” he said.

On their major collaborators, he said, “We have a lot of companies here such as ntel, 9mobile, Access Bank, Jumia, E-Discovery, IoTAfrica, and quite a number of other organisations that came in underground to make sure this event is a success. By the way, it will be an annual event”.

The keynote speakers also shared their thoughts with newsmen shortly after the event.Agboola Joshua and Adejumo both advised young Nigerians to leverage the potentialities of tech by exploring its possibility.In her remarks, Adaobi Oni-Egboma said, “Tech Unite Africa is a wonderful maiden edition for tech players in the space. It was a conglomeration of everyone interested in the space. This just shows how much we need to develop the sector with the amount of funding and vision for startups in the space.

“Chuwkuma Osahor commended the organisers for a well planned event.

“It’s a well orgainsed event for me. I will encourage these guys (the organisers) to continue this conversation, bring in more resourceful persons and in turn, provide insights to solving problems faced in the cyberspace,” he said.
