Group slams masterminds of Suleja church bomb blast

By Abdulwahab Abdulah

LAGOS – The last Sunday bombing of a church in Suleja, has been described as an attempt to pitch Christians against Muslims in another round of religious war by some individuals masquerading as Muslims.

This was contained in a statement by an Islamic non governmental organisation, Muslim Rights Concern, MURIC, which roundly condemned the attack, stating that violence is antithetical to the true teachings of Islam.

The group further condemned the attacks, describing it as reckless, just as it decried the audacity of those behind the bombing of churches.

In a statement by its executive Director, Dr. Is-haq Akintola, MURIC, stated that the  Qur’an advocates dialogue between Muslims and Christians on issues of common interest in chapter 3:64.

He said, there is nowhere in the Qur’an where Muslims are enjoined to violently attack Christians, adding that “Qur’an forbids the use of force except when Muslims are attacked and there is no evidence that the Christians inside the Suleja church had attacked Muslims.”
