Court orders release of Deji Abiola’s travelling documents

LAGOS – Justice Adeniyi Onigbanjo of an Ikeja High Court, Lagos, yesterday, ordered the release of the travelling documents of Mr. Deji Abiola, second son to  late politician, Chief M.K.O. Abiola, to enable him travel abroad for medical treatment.

Deji Abiola was docked on a one-count charge of stealing by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC. He was alleged to have obtained N35.5 million from one Mr. Hamza  Jose in September 2008, under the guise that he would help him (Jose) procure printing machine from Switzerland, which according to the anti graft agency, he never did.

The court ordered the release of his passport sequel to an application by his counsel to enable him travel for medical treatment.
