Delta re-run: More witnesses debunk DPP’s claim

ASABA-The Delta State Governorship re-run petition tribunal sitting in Asaba, yesterday, heard from more witnesses of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, who told the tribunal that elections were held in the state on January 6, 2011.

 The witnesses also said that the election was devoid of rancour and were conclusive in the areas disputed by the Democratic People’s Party, DPP.

Chairman of the PDP in Ethiope West Local Government Area of the state, Mr. Stephen Akowe, told the tribunal that elections held in all parts of the council.

Tendering his party and voter cards, which were admitted as exhibits by the tribunal, Akowe said accreditation started at about 9.30am at most wards and ended at 12noon, adding that actual voting commenced thereafter.

Other witnesses who testified, yesterday, were Mercy French, and Pension Awani, from Warri South; Ugoti  Bawo, Warri South-West; Stephen Adeleke, Patani; and Douglas Eneke from Burutu Local Government Area. They maintained that the governorship re-run election took place in their areas and results declared by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC.
