ABUJA – MONTHS after the presidential election won by President Goodluck Jonathan, strong indications emerged yesterday that some officials of the Peoples Democratic Party’s, PDP, Presidential Campaign Council, PCC, are yet to turn in over 100 brand new vehicles used by the Council during the pre-election campaign.

It was also gathered that even after the Council was disbanded, proper report of  activities, including logistics and funds used by the council to prosecute the campaign, were not rendered to either the Presidency or leadership of the party.

Against this backdrop, the Presidency and national leadership of the PDP are said to be unhappy with the development they described as untidy state of affairs, just as the party would have preferred to have a proper record of how the campaign was carried out.

It was also gathered that most of the departmental heads of the PCC may have disappeared with the vehicles attached to their offices, as most of the new vehicles, including Sports Utility Vehicles, SUVs, 18-seater buses and cars, were donated to the PDP Campaign Council by supporters of the party.

A source at the PDP national secretariat disclosed that the official in charge of the Youth Committee had in possession four buses donated by a company in the oil industry which, it was alleged, were taken away to one of the South West states as soon as the campaign was over.

Similarly, the Publicity Committee had, at least, one jeep, a bus and a car attached to it but till date, the director in charge of the committee is yet to hand over the vehicles, either to the Director-General of the disbanded PCC, Dr. Dalhatu Sarki Tafida, or the national secretariat of the party.

The desire by some departments in the party’s national secretariat to have the vehicles for their official businesses exposed the disappearance of the vehicles, even as there were expectations that the vehicles would have been distributed to the departments, zonal and state chapters of the party after the election.
