Delta govt pledges succour for fire victims

Asaba—DELTA State Government has promised to send relief materials to victims of the fire incident that occurred last Saturday at Okpanam.

Commissioner, Bureau for Special Duties, Dr. Tony Nwaka, stated this when he visited the burnt house at Okpanam and survivor of the incident at the emergency unit of the Federal Medical Centre, FMC, Asaba, Tuesday.

Nwaka  sympathised with the family which lost four children and the landlord of the house, saying  “the State Emergency Relief Agency will put necessary machinery in motion to ameliorate their plight.”

Meanwhile, the only survivor, of the fire incident, Daniel Udemba, 10, is responding to treatment, Vanguard gathered.

Commissioner Nwaka had earlier visited the parastatals and agencies under the Bureau which including the State Emergency Relief Agency, Christian and Muslim Welfare Bboars, as well as the state Fire Service, all in Asaba.
