Insurance operators pour accolades on Kamara …As they bid him farewell

The outgoing Managing Director of Africa Reinsurance Plc (Africa Re) Mr. Bakari Kamara is defined as a man who had ideas even to the last meeting during his 27 years stay at the reinsurance firm.

At a farewell dinner in honour of Kamara, the first Managing Director of Africa Re, Mr. Edward Mensah noted that Kamara has done a great job during his long stay in the company.

According to Mensah, after retiring from the company 27 years ago, he came to Nigeria to realise that the company is stronger, adding “Kamara has made contributions to world reinsurance. Africa Re will always remain dear to me. Nigeria is a market where we generate much of our profit.”

Mr. Fola Daniel, Commissioner for Insurance noted that Kamara is truly an insurer in Africa being a very serious person and outspoken as well.

In his words “Kamara had ideas all through even till the last meeting and was full of vision. He is truly a giant of Africa insurer and he made us really proud. Kamara took over Africa Re when even an astute insurer would have been jittery. He was in charge of a regional firm however; he had the vision of a global company.”

Daniel maintained that Kamara is qualified to be a Nigerian having spent 27 years in the country.

Prof. Joe Irukwu, one time managing director of Nigeria Reinsurance Plc while paying accolades to Kamara noted that the outgoing Managing Director is leaving behind a solid and fantastic structure.

In his words “In Africa Re, the structure started with Edward Mensah and then Mr. Kamara took over and improved on it and he has done an excellent job. Africa Re is one of the most successful insurance institutions in Africa and I am glad that I was there at the beginning. We started it together and we campaigned to bring them to Nigeria.
