APCON challenges Ad practitioners on career growth

To keep advertising practitioners abreast with current developments in the marketing communications industry, the Advertising Practitioners Council of Nigeria, APCON, has instituted a mandatory professional training for advertising practitioners across the country.

The Head, Planning, Registration and Career Matters, APCON, Mr. Joe-Eugene Onuorah, made this known in Lagos, when he said the training is to fast track the practitioners’ career progression.

According to him, the course which theme is, ‘’Challenges of Career Growth in Advertising” is designed for those inducted in 2009, 2010 and 2011 as well as practitioners who have never benefitted from the Council’s mandatory professional development programmes.

He noted that as duly registered practitioners, the newly inducted professionals need to be guided on a sure path to successful career, so that they will enjoy smooth and rapid growth in the profession.

Onuorah explained, “the purpose of this course is to properly initiate new entrants into the profession, acquaint them with current developments in the practice, equip them to pursue a successful career and qualify them for upgrade to a higher practice status”

The course covers recruiting and retaining talents in the Marketing Communication Industry, working with non professionals in the Marketing Communication Industry, Advertisement clearance procedures and Basic Marketing, Revenue Generation and Financial Management Challenges in the Advertising Industry.

The mandatory training is scheduled to take place in Kano ,Lagos and in Port-Harcourt.

The trainers include Mr. ‘Lolu Akinwummi, GMD, Prima Garnet Group & Chairman APCON, Mr. Ade Akinde, MD, Campaign Palace and Chairman, Advertising Standards Panel (ASP), Mr. Willy Nnorom, MD, Reads and Mark Limited and others.
