A Niger Delta activist,  Mr Frank Akiefa, has said that Elder Godsday Orubebe, Minister of Niger Delta Affairs did not bring the amnesty programme for repentant militants in the Niger Delta region, contrary to what he told  the Senate and the world,  during his recent screening.

Akiefa, in a statement in Warri, Delta State, said that Elder Orubebe did not play any significant role in the amnesty programme, as against his claims that he was the one that brought the amnesty programme to the region.

The former Niger Delta agitator challenged Mr. Orubebe to tell the world his contributions to the Niger Delta Amnesty programme, to put the record straight and not try to take credit for what he did not do.

Akiefa observed that if the claims were coming from Mr. Timi Alaibe or Mr Kingsley Kuku or other stakeholders, who had put their lives and reputation at stake in the Niger Delta struggle and Amnesty programme, it would be understandable, because they had contributed immensely to the overall success of the programme.

He said, “Orubebe should not deceive us. He should stop claiming other people’s efforts. We don’t know him for being involved in amnesty matters.”

Akiefa commended the Federal Government, Mr. Timi Alaibe and Mr Kingsley Kuku, Special Adviser to the President on Amnesty for making life better for the Niger Delta former agitators, by posting them to different countries for vocational training programmes and called on those whose
