KADUNA and Kebbi states threw the essence of the essence of the National Sports Festival (NSF) going on in Port Harcout to the mud Tuesday when both states’Dambe and Kakowa (traditional wrestling) engaged in a free for all fight at the indoor Sports Hall of the Port Harcourt Civic Centre.
The two states were competing in the final of a particular weight category of the dambe sport when they tied at a point after competing for close to an hour in which a winner could not emerge.
The officiating officials the match applied one of their rules to untie the athletes for a winner to emerge eventual the lot fell for Kaduna and hell was let loose as dangerous weapons of various shape were brought to in to use as
the sport was disrupted while the arena was turned upside down.
It took a battery of armed security officers a couple of minutes douse the situation and arrested two of the people fomenting the trouble. This reporter was also a victim of the situation as his head was bruised with a wooden stick
by one of the irate athletes for doing his legitimate duties at the venue.
