Former Falcons coach, Paul Hamilton said that Nigeria ladies missed their way at the women’s world cup after they flunked their opening game against France.
During their opening match on June 26 the Falcons held their ground until the 56th minute when French woman Marie-Laure Delie scored the break through goal. The second game against Germany followed a similar pattern.
Nigeria frustrated Germany all through the first half only to succumb to pressure in the 64th minute.
Hamilton argued that the Falcons would have made it to the round of eight, only if they posted a good result in their opening day.
“In tournaments you go all out to win or draw. Because it is what determines your progress in the competition.
“The Falcons missed it when they lost against France. They had a good game, but that key element of concentration did them in,” said Hamilton the only Nigerian to have coached both the men and women national teams.
