The opening ceremony of the National Sports Festival in Port Harcourt has caught people’s eyes and has elicited reactions from both Journalists, officials and the athletes.

“There have been so many heart-shaking moments in it and we were all thrilled,” Ben Memuletiwon, Editor of Sports Day, a daily sports newspaper said.

Memuletiwon confessed that it was beyond his imagination that Rivers could put up such a scintillating show of grandiose proportion. “Governor Amaechi has raised the bar of the Sports Festival and I hope that Lagos State can meet up with the challenge”. He also noted that the opening ceremony reminded him of the wonderful works of Beijin Olympics in China.

Tony Ohaeri, Spokesman of the National Sports Commission, NSC, also doffed his hat for Rivers State Government for putting up massive and impressive ceremony that would challenge other hosting states in the future. “It is simply fantastic. For the first time, I was impressed that our Sports Festival has gone beyond what it used to be. This is best ever. It was a spectacular show”, he noted.

Chima Okeke one of the die-hard fans who came to the stadium as early as 7 am for an event that stated by 7pm said; “It was awesome. A lot different from the other ones. “This has gone above and beyond. It was special”.

Alfred Okoligwe of Masterports simply said;  Spectacular! Splendid! Fantastic! Lagos State has to fight to be able to match this”.Olalekan Ige is one of the Journalists who works in the Media Committee of the LOC. He was equally amazed by the American wonder of the opening ceremony. “I’m short of words. It’s colourful. One of the best opening ceremonies of the National Sports Festival I have ever seen”.
