Edo State has said that as at July 4th,2011,1:30pm,Edo state has won 19Gold,10Silver and 18Bronze medals at the 17th National Sports Festival.

According to the Public Relations Officer of the Ministry of Youth and Sports ,  Precious Igbonwelundu , the state said that although the medals table from the Main Organising Committee(MOC),of Monday,July 4th,2011, 11:15am,credits Edo with 6Gold,5Silver and 12Bronze medals, the state has long surpassed that record and is expecting the various federations to turn in the results soon.

“We have won 7Gold medals in weightlifting,while in wrestling Edo has 2Gold and 3Bronze medals. For Swimming, we have 1Gold and 2Silver and in Walk Race,Edo has won 1Gold. In KungFu. Edo won 5Gold, 4Silver, 3Bronze, Judo 1Gold, 3Silver,2Bronze, as well as Karate 2Bronze.

“Also in Golf we got 2Bronze,while in Para Table tennis 2Bronze,and Cycling 1Silver,1Bronze”.
