THE Anti-Kidnapping Task Force of the Delta Waterways Security Committee, DWSC, Warri, Friday , arrested three suspected kidnappers of a six-month-old pregnant woman, Mrs. Orisrise Akinneyin, who was kidnapped, Monday, in one of the states of the Southwest region at Agbarho in Delta State.
Acting on a tip off, the task force, comprising policemen from the Area Command, Warri and members of the DWSC, reportedly trailed the kidnappers to Agbarho , where they were waiting to collect a N5 million ransom from the family of the victim and arrested three of them.
The team took the suspects to Sapele, where the pregnant woman was rescued and also recovered an AK 47 rifle and packs of ammunition from them.
A source told Saturday Vanguard that the kidnappers, who have their base in Sapele, abducted the woman from her home in Oyo state and took her to Agbarho, as a diversionary tactics to beat security, but the anti-kidnapping task force beat them to their game.
A security source, however, hinted that the kidnapped woman is from Ondo state.
It was gathered that the profit-making hostage takers first demanded for N50 million ransom from the family of the victim, but reduced it to N5 million when they saw that it was difficult for the money to be raised.
Chairman of the DWSC Anti-Kidnapping Task Force, Chief Boro Pudu told Saturday Vanguard when contacted yesterday, “With the joint operation by security agents and cooperation of citizens, there will be no hiding place for kidnappers in Delta state”.
