Ex-International Friday Ekpo is confident the Under-23 team, Dream Team V will repeat the 3-1 feat against Ghana in the return leg of the All Africa Games qualifier next week in Accra.
According to Ekpo, the Austin Eguavoen led team are capable of beating Ghana at their backyard but he warned the Nigerian side not to underrate their host.
“First of all, I will say congratulation to Eguavoen and his team for winning 3-1 but 3-0 would have been better. Since the Ghanaians scored a goal here, what is left for them is just two goals to eliminate Nigeria.
But I know with the high scoring Nigeria side, we will come out victorious because there is no way the Ghanaians will score without them retaliating. So I do not see them beating us in the second phase of the qualifier,” he said.
Continuing Ekpo said: “Football is not mathematics, it all depends on how you plan your game and then execute it with your brilliant players, which I believe is what the coach is trying to do. Though we might have beaten Ghana over and over again but that does not mean we should underrate them.
I know they (Ghana) will be working so hard to eliminate us. For instance the Falcons have been beating Ghana’s Black Queens but all of a sudden they started beating us. But I do not believe such things will happen with the boys,” he said.
