Sports Festival: Wrestling, Trado sports roll off today

The weigh in ceremonies of the wrestling event was held last night at the Civic Centre in Port-Harcourt as competition rolls off the ground today.

Ebonyi athletes who trained in the morning had warned other states to forget the gold medals as they have come prepared.
Abula ball game, one of the sport in Traditional Sport is billed to begin this  morning with Rivers taking on Lagos in the male category of Group A while Bayelsa takes on Ondo in Group B fixture.

In the doubles category, Edo will engage Ondo in Group A while Imo tackles Lagos in Group B.

However, Technical Committee chairman of the Traditional Sports Federation,  Samuel Daudu has called on all technical officials to improve on officiating of  the sport if they want it to enjoy the followership it truly deserves.

Daudu, who spoke at a refresher course for technical officials said it was important they apply commonsense in their judgement during matches.

He called on the officiating officials to follow the rules and regulation of the sport in their decisions.

He lamented the lack of sponsorship of the sport and called on corporate organizations to help the sport by partnering them.
