A Manchester based technology researcher and founder of Round D Globe Travels and Tours Limited, Esther Eboesomi, has been honoured by the Mayor of Greater Manchester and Volunteer Centre Manchester for her work teaching and mentoring children in digital skills across the United Kingdom and Nigeria.

The recognition is for her years of voluntary service in expanding access to technology education and helping young people build confidence in digital learning, both in local communities in the UK and in outreach programmes in Nigeria.

Alongside her professional career in technology research, Eboesomi has devoted much of her time to running free training sessions for children and young people, introducing them to coding, digital literacy, problem solving, and critical thinking. Her programmes have been delivered in schools, community centres, and grassroots initiatives in Greater Manchester, while also reaching young learners in Nigeria.

Presenting the award, representatives of the Mayor’s office and Volunteer Centre Manchester commended her for using her professional skills to make a practical difference beyond borders.

“Esther’s work shows how volunteering can change lives,” a spokesperson said. “By sharing her knowledge with children in Greater Manchester and Nigeria, she is helping to build a more inclusive and connected digital future.”

Eboesomi said she believes early access to technology can open doors for children who might otherwise be left out of the growing digital economy.

“Technology should be within reach of every child, no matter where they are born or what resources they have,” she said. “When young people are given the chance to learn and create with technology, it changes how they see their own future.”

Parents, teachers, and community leaders involved in her programmes have described her as a patient and practical mentor who makes technical subjects easier to understand. Several of the children she has worked with have gone on to pursue further studies in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics with greater confidence.

The honour comes at a time when both the United Kingdom and Nigeria are trying to close digital skills gaps and encourage wider participation in technology careers. Eboesomi’s work across two countries highlights how individual volunteers can help narrow those divides through education and shared knowledge.

By recognising her efforts, the Mayor of Greater Manchester and Volunteer Centre Manchester have also drawn attention to the role of community led initiatives in shaping better opportunities for young people at home and abroad.
