The chartered institute of taxation of Nigeria recently inducted eight hundred and fifty inductees in Lagos to mark the 45th induction ceremony of the institute.
According to the chairman, membership and professional conduct, Prince Ade Tunde Oretuga , the induction ceremony was a remarkable event as it represents the symbolic unleashing of a force of qualified tax practitioners.
” The Induction ceremony is a remarkable event as it represents the symbolic unleashing of a force of qualified tax practitioners and administrators who are the future leaders in the field of taxation. I would like to challenge you to uphold the tenets of peaceful, innovative and harmonious working relationship and to strive to make strides that lead to the growth of your respective organisation, the institute and the nation at large.” He said.
Speaking at the event, the president and chairman in Council, Adesina Adebayo said that taxation is a unique profession that was open to many other professionals.
“The induction ceremony is compliance with the provisions of the CITN act, CAPC10, laws of the Federation of Nigeria 2004, where the institute derives its powers to regulate and control the practice of taxation profession, in all its ramifications. Interestingly, this ceremony, the 44th in the series is holding some months to the 40th anniversary celebration of the establishment of our noble institute.
“Taxation is a unique profession that is open to many other professionals who have gone through rigorous certification processes, thereby providing the basis for their being eligible to apply for the membership of our dear institute.
“ It is no longer news that taxation has assumed the front burner and will continue to be, due to the new normal occasioned by Covid-19 pandemic. This has no doubt turned global economy into recession, taxation as one of the fiscal policy instruments is needed for stability in the post pandemic era.
We implore you to be good ambassadors as your compartment and professionalism would impact on the profile of the institute.” He said.
Also Speaking the special guest of honor, chief Norteh Bartizaage implored the new inductees to use the profession for the betterment of the country.
