GLOBAL Channel and Partnerships Manage, DigitalEd, Ezekiel Bamigboye has admonished companies not to see successful competitors as arrogant or threats, but should rather research into what they are doing excellently well for improvement.
Speaking in Lagos during the unveiling of his two books titled: ‘Brand Arrogance and Selling for Beginners’, Bamigboye said that in most cases, when a company is strong or intimidating, other companies tend to hate such brand.
He said: “Brand Arrogance will help you see successful competitors or companies that are doing excellently well from another perspective. It will enable you realise the little things they are doing well for them to be successful. Every time you hate someone, ask yourself why do I hate this person? It might just be because the person is doing well so instead of dislike, this book will help you focus on how to be better for yourself and not to be intimidated.
Bamigboye, who worked with MTN for 18 years, said that the book showcases MTN as a case study for businesses or companies to be successful rather than feeling intimidating.
He said: “For instance, for MTN as a brand to be successful in Nigeria for 20 years, shows that there is something they are doing well. Hating such brand won’t be a way to go but instead, try to understand what they are doing differently for them to be successful as a brand.
He explained that the idea behind ‘Selling for Beginners’ was to help people that want to venture into business or grow their business take a way fear adding that “selling is scary, people are afraid of selling because it may involve meeting a target. So the book helps to take fear out of selling and to see critical things to know and understand when going into sales or want to get better in sales.”
Bamigboye, a Canada based Sales Management expert said: “I have spent over 18 years in the telecommunications industry and this is one of the ways to give back to the industry.
“The two books are good for people that want to understand the strength behind a successful company, it is also good for people interested or work in telecommunication industry. It also reveals the principle and structure of selling and how to record a breakthrough in selling for big companies.”
