*Blames presidency cabal for nation’s economic woes

ABUJA – The Deji of Akure, Oba Aladetoyinbo Ogunlade Aladelusi, Odundun II, on Monday said that banditry and kidnapping persist in the country because the economy is in a free fall. 

He blamed the political class for mismanaging the resources of the nation, thereby plunging more people into deeper poverty levels.

Oba Aladelusi noted that such actions encouraged unemployment, which predisposed the youths to embrace acts of terror.

The monarch spoke to journalists on the sidelines of the ongoing sensitisation workshop on Sexual and Reproductive Health workshop for traditional and religious leaders organised by Marie Stopes Nigeria, in Abuja.

He said, “The population of Nigeria is not all that big, but the( economy is bad. I mean the country is so corrupt. 

“It is not that we are not rich. We are the ‘Giant of Africa’ but they (political leaders) don’t manage our resources as it is supposed to be as a country. 

“If they manage it (economy) well, we won’t have all these problems. Look at unemployment rate, banditry in the country, and kidnappings. They are happening because of the bad economy. Everyone is looking for a way out of the hardship. 

“I appreciate the President, because he is doing his best, but the cabal is not helping out. Above all, one day Nigeria will be better.”
