BENIN – FRESH crisis is brewing in Edo State’s Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, as hundreds of leaders of the party in the state have concluded plans to dump the party in the next few days, if President Goodluck Jonathan goes ahead to appoint the former Minister of State for Defence, Arch. Mike Onolemememin, as the minister representing the state.
Vanguard learnt that the former Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the party, Chief Tony Anenih, had persuaded the President to appoint Onolemememen, who also is from the same Edo central senatorial district with Chief Anenih, as the Minister representing the state.
Consequently, some top leaders of the party in the three senatorial districts, including those from the faction of the party led by Dr Samuel Ogbemudia/Admiral Mike Akhigbe, met, yesterday, with a view to reaching the presidency, and said that they would ensure the final collapse of the PDP in the state, if the appointment came to fruition.
