Ekiti vows to prosecute “looters of state’s treasury”

BY GBENGA ARIYIBI

ADO-EKITI – Ekiti State Government yesterday vowed to prosecute those it said  mismanaged the state funds running into billions of Naira during the three and half year rule of Engr Segun Oni as governor.

The state Commissioner for Information, Communication, Civic Orientation and Strategy, Mrs. Fola Richie Adewusi, stated this at a Transparency/Accountability forum in Ado Ekiti, the state capital, noting that “the government will not fold its arms and allow a small segment of the people get away with the diversion of public funds into private pockets.”

She alleged that billions of Naira was paid to various contractors that handled projects in the State under Engr Oni’s regime.

Mrs Adewusi lamented that many projects executed during Oni’s regime were not commensurate with the huge sums of money paid by the state government, assuring that the money would be retrieved  to the state treasury.
