Tough times and difficult situations teach you some of the hardest truths in life. Adults raised in low-income families or distorted family conditions tend to be more sensitive and stressed out as compared to others.

There is no denying the fact that your childhood shapes a lot of your mentality as an adult. You grow up as a live example of your insecurities and challenges encountered as a child. 

Matthew Gallagher is an example of such an adult whose childhood challenges shape his life today. Spending part of his childhood homeless and living off governmental grants and aid, he is an avid supporter of humanitarian activities today. Working for the community and raising his voice to eradicate poverty in his country stems from his sufferings as a child. His ultimate desire is to help as many homeless people as he can and instead of only providing them homes to reside in, he wants to create awareness among the privileged that educating the homeless, providing them work opportunities, and finding their treatment of drug abuse or mental issues is paramount.

Today, as an established programmer and founder of his own multi-million-dollar company, Watch Gang, Matthew Gallagher understands his responsibilities to provide back to the community and help those who are in need. His father’s death due to drug abuse not only led him to create his own watch club but also made him realize how he could have had a better life, had he been guided and provided a way out. He considers drug abuse as one the worst social evils eating up American society and ruining so many families and generations. His father’s drug abuse habit and his inability to get rid of it till his death due to overdose have made Matthew rethink his role as a father and a countryman.

Today, apart from his business and family, what inspires and drives him is social service, raising awareness for all drug abuse and child poverty, and raising his voice to amend laws and regulations related to homeless individuals. Matthew Gallagher rightfully calls himself a philanthropist as not many of such stature and social standing have the guts to share their miserable stories of homelessness and struggles, to provide others a ray of hope, and also use their money for charitable purposes.
