Fashola
A youth group under the auspices of the APC Youths For Progressive Change, has said that for All Progressives Congress, APC, to stand any chance of retaining the presidency in 2023, it must field a tested and proven candidate like the Minister of Works, Babatunde Fashola, SAN.
Speaking at a gathering in Ibadan, leader of the group, Mr Abdulaziz Bolarinwa, said the party would have to work harder than it has ever done to win in 2023 given the current state of the economy and insecurity across the country.
He said: “It is hard to deny the economic and security challenges our country is currently facing. People are hungry just as many other are dying needlessly. So, if we want people to vote for our party in 2023, we must ensure that we put our best foot forward. It is for this reason that we have consistently called on the former governor of Lagos, Mr. Babatunde Fashola (SAN) to put himself forward as we strongly believe that he is the best chance for the party to win and for Nigeria to make considerable progress.”
Bolarinwa further urged APC to ensure a smooth conduct of its national convention, saying the outcome would be critical for the party in an election year.
“If we get it wrong at the convention, we will have a divided house going into an election year and that would make it a lot more difficult for us as a party. We must, therefore, do all we can to ensure a smooth conduct of the convention and move to quickly resolve any conflict that may arise afterwards,” he added.
