Group berates Obasanjo’s critics

A PRESSURE group,  “Omoilu Foundation”, has faulted critics of former President Olusegun Obasanjo on the politics of the South West geo-political zone.

In a statement yesterday by its Vice-Chairman, Alhaji M.B Idris, the group lamented the level of indiscipline among Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, members in Ogun state.

The group said indiscipline was responsible for the sorry state  of the party. According to the statement, “No matter what anybody says, Obasanjo is an elder statesman who has distinguished himself as civil war hero and three-time President.

This man parades unequalled credentials. Hate him or love him, no Nigerian, whether living or dead, has attained the glorious heights attained by Obasanjo. His place in history is surely reserved. He sure deserves the respect of all and sundry. He should be accorded the honour due to all former Heads of State and Presidents whether military or civilian.”

It urged President Goodluck Jonathan to ignore “sycophants and political jobbers who may want to come between him and Obasanjo, and tap from the former President’s wealth of experience like other countries and international institution as he settles down to the task of governance.”
