Toks Asher Young to host Bi-weekly Artiste & Music management sessions

Tochukwu Young Umezulike aka Toks Asher Young is set to hold bi-weekly “Music & Artiste Management Virtual Sessions” for aspiring artiste managers and music business executives.

He made this known in a chat with our reporter last week. He told us that this has been a long term dream of his to host such sessions as a way of mentoring and giving back.

He said he had initially hoped to kick off the project in May 2020 to commemorate his birthday but due to the covid 19 pandemic and the subsequent restriction protocols worldwide he has been postponing and rescheduling it.

Toks who is an artiste/talent manager, music entrepreneur and philanthropist says that the sessions will be held no-weekly starting from October 2021. The sessions which will see him partner with other artiste manager and music business execs will focus on educating and mentoring young and upcoming artistes as well as aspiring artiste/talent managers. “The sole aim of these sessions is to help impart knowledge to upcoming artistes and managers on the rudiments of music business and exploit the various sources of income available to an artiste” he explained.

Tochukwu said due to COVID 19 restrictions and to ensure the safety of participants the sessions will be held virtually via Instagram live. He said plans have already been put in place to bring in top music business execs, A&Rs and talent managers as guests and mentors.

The sessions which will last approximately 3 months is aimed at guiding the participants through the basics and intricate details of music production, distribution, promotions and branding. Umezulike said the session is open to all his followers and anyone who wishes to participate and will be streamed on His IG live. He said 2 participants will be randomly selected to shadow select mentors so as to gain practical experiences too.

Toks who is also a published author was presented with the Nelson Mandela Leadership Award Of Excellence & Integrity earlier this year in recognition of his role as a social justice & youth empowerment advocate by the West Africa Youth Council (WAYC) and appointed ECOWAS YOUTH AMBASSADOR.
