THE Isoko Elite  Group, yesterday,decried the refusal of the Delta State governor to support an Isoko for the position of deputy speaker of the state House of Assembly.

The group said, in a statement by Okite Omamuzo, that by appointing an Isoko, Hon Ovuozorie Macaulay, to the office of Secretary to the State Government, the governor had questioned the support he got from the Isoko nation.

Stressing that it was the turn of the Isoko nation to produce the deputy speaker of the state House of Assembly, Omamuzo said that by throwing his weight behind Hon Basil Gana Gana for the position of deputy speaker, the governor was unduly patronising the Ijaw nation.

Omamuzo said: “Between 2007 and 2011 under the Uduaghan administration, the Ijaws had the Senate slot in the person of James Manager; ministerial slot in the person of Elder Orubebe; deputy speaker in the person of Basil Ganagana and chairmanship of the very powerful oil commission in the person of Chief Wellington Okrika.
