As Nigerians bid former Super Eagles skipper Nwankwo Kanu a final bye from international football in his testimonial match which takes place in Teslim Balogun stadium in Lagos today, former Super Eagles player Thompson Oliha says his departure from the scene will leave football fans with sweet memories.

The testimonial match which will feature world’s football big stars such as Ghana’s  Michael Essien, Cote d’lvoire’s Didier Drogba and France’s 1998 World Cup winner Marcel Desailly, has as the Special Guest of honour, soccer loving governor of Lagos State Babtunde Raji Fashola who has been pencilled down to lead  the Super Eagles All-stars against Friends of Kanu.

According to Oliha, Kanu has done so much for Nigeria and needs to be honoured, adding that he will also be remembered not as a footballer alone but also for his Kanu Heart Foundation through which he has been touching the lives of young Nigerians.

“Kanu has done well and deserves to be honoured after years of sadness and joy in the service of his fatherland. He deserves everything he is going to get on Saturday (today). This also shows that in every thing a man does there will be an end someday.

The good thing is that he is bowing out at a good age. I think Nigerians should applaud him for what he has done. He has won a lot of laurels for Nigeria and even at his foreign clubs. It is a good thing, I am happy for him,” he said.
