ABUJA-A female lawyer, Mrs Laura Ajoiyi, has asked an Abuja High Court to nullify the election of officers of International Federation of Women Lawyers, FIDA, Abuja branch, arguing that the said election was conducted contrary to Article 11, Sections II and III the bye-laws of the association.

Defendants in the suit are Iyabode Ogunseye, Ozioma Izuora, Doris Ikpeze, Ngozi Ikenga, Kate Okoli, Ijeoma Alisi, Olanike Bakarin, Mrs Agbamuche, Laraba Shuibu and Amina Agbaje.

The plaintiff is also praying the court to restrain the officers from assuming office.

She is praying the court to set aside the purported election, and an order to conduct fresh election to the executive committee of the association.

Ajoiyi wants the court to stop them from operating and discharging the functions of executive officers or officers of the branch or parading themselves as executive officers of FIDA Nigeria, Abuja branch.

She had alleged that the May 11 election was conducted by an Electoral Committee, which chairman was handpicked by the 9th  defendant, contrary to the provisions of Section I, Article II (iii) of the FIDA Nigeria, Abuja branch bye-laws and that the said “chairperson of the Electoral Committee is not a member of the branch.”
