Katsina -Ten persons were killed on Wednesday in a ghastly motor accident at Abukur village along Katsina-Kano road.

An eyewitness said ,Wednesday, at Abukur, Katsina,  that the accident occurred at about 4 p.m.

According to him, the accident involved a Toyota corolla car with registration number AG 54 SRP and 18-seater commercial bus with registration number XF 401 KTN.

The bus, which was coming from Katsina, had a head-on collision with the vehicle coming from the opposite direction while overtaking at a bend, the eyewitness explained.

He said that all the six occupants of the Toyota car, including an army officer, and four occupants of the bus died on the spot while others sustained injuries.

Mr Tartius Haziel of the Federal Road Safety Corps, said about 17 persons got injured and had been rushed to the General Hospital in Katsina.

He said that the 10 corpses had been deposited at the hospital mortuary.

Haziel, who attributed the accident to wrong overtaking, called on drivers to always obey  traffic rules and regulations.  (NAN)
