Before the April polls, some demystified forces in Abia State still wallowing in the world of fantasy over their political values deployed all sorts of antics and plans to subvert the will of the people in the State. But they failed as the people voted overwhelmingly against them and their stooges. Handy for their use in the failed plot was a national daily owned by their paymaster.

But instead of hiding their heads in shame for the rejection and humiliation they suffered in the hand of the voters in the elections, they have embarked on wild goose chase again by pontificating and poke-nosing into the affairs of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP and government in the State.

In their usual mischievous and propaganda gimmicks, the same national daily on Friday May 27 carried a story titled “Ministerial list Tears Abia PDP Apart”. As usual, it was the only national daily that carried the false story among all the dailies in the country.

The story lacked attribution and facts that were the hallmark of objectivity and acceptance in journalism; rather it was all about speculation and tale of lies.

It was obvious that the sponsors of the story can be likened to a man whose house was on fire and he went chasing rats. Which members of PDP in the State did the ministerial list tear apart? Were the sponsors of the story members of PDP? If they are not, as we obviously know that they were rejected by the party, what was their business in the affairs of the party in the State?

What happened to their dead business empire called PPA that could not last for four years? When will they be tired of intruding into the affairs of the State and PDP? Why are they behaving like Victor Umeh of APGA who threatened to take the case of the new PDP zoning arrangement to Ojukwu when it was clear that neither him nor Ojukwu has any business with it?

In the story, they alleged that the list of ministerial nominees submitted by the state included Chief Onyema Ugochukwu, Mr. Chinedu Orji, Chief Vincent Ogbulafor, Senator Ike Nwachukwu, Chief Ojo Maduekwe, Mao Ohunabunwa, Chief Emeka Nwogu, Chief Adolphuos Wabara and Blessing Azoro.

If this is true, it means that Governor Theodore Orji is a man of honour because the list contained the firsts among equals in the State. It shows that Governor Orji is magnanimous in victory unlike his counterparts in other states across the country that usually retain state ministerial slot in their zone of origin. Since he assumed office, Governor Orji has been mindful of balancing equation in sharing political offices among the three zones in the State.

And it is in the same spirit of fairness and equity that the three zones in the State were equally represented in the ministerial list, thereby achieving and promoting triangular equilibrium in the State. All the persons whose names are in the list are not only experienced, but are household names in Nigeria’s politics.

They have paid their dues for the country and therefore deserve any position that will be given to them, especially with the sacrifice they have made for the country. Their pedigree and experiences will add value to governance in this country. They have done it before and they will surely do it again.

With President Goodluck Jonathan’s new agenda for the country, he needs this calibre of people with impeccable track records and vast experience in their various fields of human endeavour to move the country to the next level. It is obvious that these personalities will represent the State well at the national level.

Clearly there was no crisis in the State PDP. Members worked closely and together to achieve victory for the party in the April polls and since then they have remained a united family speaking with one voice. The leader of the party in the State, Gov. Orji, is a listening and humane leader who carries everybody along in taking decisions.

For his detractors, it is clear that there will be no Government of National Unity, GNU, this time around. Even if there will be, PPA will not be part of it because they have nothing to show having failed to win any state in the last elections. So for those who have lost out in the April polls in the State, they are bad losers and should stop chasing shadows at the tribunal.

The people of the State have been yelling for a change just like their counterpart in Imo State and they have succeeded in getting the change by voting for Gov. Orji and his party in the election. Presently, the people of the State and PDP members are not complaining over the ministerial list. What matters most is performance and quality, not age or qualifications. One thing certain, there is no crisis in Abia PDP over  the list.
