A coalition of Civil Society Organisation, CSOs, Sunday, urged President Muhammadu Buhari, to consider Member representing Sapele/Okpe/Uvwie Federal Constituency at the Green Chamber of the National Assembly, Hon Efe Afe, for National Honours, following effective representation and developmental effort for the people.

This was contained in a statement signed by the Executive Director, Contacts and Mobilization, Competent Governance for Accountability and Civic Trust, CGACT, Amb. Godwin Oghenero Erheriene.

The coalition pointed out that Hon Afe has been dogged in his empowerment programmes for to change the narrative among constituents he represents.

According to the coalition in the statement, Hon Afe’s empowerment skill acquisition programme has been second to none which his constituents attested to, and nicknamed him ‘epitome of empowerment’.

The statement reads in part, “We the Coalition of Civil Society use this medium to appreciate President Buhari for his giant stride in the security sector and to equally appeal to him to consider Hon. Efe Afe, Member representing Sapele/Okpe/Uvwie Federal Constituency of Delta State at the National Assembly for ‘National Honour’.

“It would be recalled that Hon Efe Afe empowerment skills towards the empowerment of his constituents is second to none and maybe that is why he is nicknamed, ‘epitome of empowerment’, and we know Hon Efe Afe understands the potency of human empowerment.

“If you build bridges, construct roads and magnificent structures without transforming human minds who will use those facilities, it might interest you to know those facilities will not see the light of the day. But if you empower the human mind, a forest can be turn to a city overnight, and Hon Efe Afe understands this.

The statement added that, “We are not unaware of the too many human empowerment programmes that have been recorded in recent times under his leadership since he assumed office. “To who much is giving much is expected, as known appreciation is a necessity.

“We are not unaware of the just concluded Udogun Hall Orerokpe empowerment programmes in Okpe LGA, Delta State.

“In the light of the above mentioned we the civil society organizations are using this medium to appeal to President Muhammadu Buhari GCFR to consider Hon. Efe Afe for National Honour so others who are occupying public offices can emulate him, because reward for a good job done is more jobs.”

The statement added, “However, as a civil society organization, we do not just criticize/checkmate public office holders we also appreciate and make recommendations when necessary.”

However, the statement commended President Muhammadu Buhari for recent effort to tackle worrisome insecurity situation across the country amidst secession agitations from some sections of the country.   

 “We are appreciating Mr. President for his Prudent Security prowess he has demonstrated overtime since assumption of office which is synonymous to National Development and Progress”, it pointed.
