Emmanuel Okala, Felix Owolabi, Gara Gombe, Jaret  Tenebe, Chikelue Iluonosie ,Taju Disu Samson Akiga, Sani Usman and Harrison Jalla were expected to  be inaugurated as interim board of the reformed Nigeria Football Association, NFA yesterday in Abuja.

One of the interim board members, Gara Gombe told Vanguard  sports in Lagos that the constitution of  Federal Republic of Nigeria 1999 was silent on sports generally and since the constitution is silence on sports and football, any law enacted by the National Assembly in Nigeria becomes a law and the government is under obligation to respect such laws and implement it accordingly.

Gombe said, the Military established a decree known as Decree 101,but when civilian administration came on board, the Decree was replaced with a Nigeria Football Association Act 2004 which is the legal document that empowers the government to fund and supervise the administration of football in Nigeria through the Federal ministry of sports.

“These names I mentioned are the names of the Nigeria Football Association interim board members which will be inaugurated on Saturday in Abuja  pending the main election to the board of the NFA.

Gombe said the aim to have an interim Nigeria Football Association Board was to correct the wrongs in the country’s football, adding that another thing is to show transparency, accountability and set a bench mark for the growth of the round leather game in Nigeria.
