Eagles won’t feel Odemwingie’s absence – Beke

By Kate Obodo

Former Bayelsa United Football Club chairman, Felix Beke has said that the omission of the West Brom striker Osaze Odemwingie will not pose a problem to the team when they lock horns with Argentina on June 1 and the 2012 Africa Nations Cup qualifier against Ethiopia on June 5.

He said rather, the omission will would serve as a lesson to players especially those who are instillingly in“It (Odemwingie’s drop) came to me as a shock though but I do not think he would have been dropped without committing any offence. It is 100 percent okay by me if Siasia punished him because he walked of out of the team’s camp after the 2012 Africa Nation’s Cup qualifier against Ethiopia on March 21 without permission.

“One thing that is lacking in our national team is discipline and if somebody like Osaze is dropped. If we do well in that match, which I know is possible, then players should know that nobody is indispensable. You remember when Keshi and co were suspended yet the team still moved on. And I like the way Siasia handled it.

“Before our match against Argentina and Ethiopia, I pray he would have been pardoned. His absence might not be a problem to us because we have many talented players. But the message is that it serves as a lesson to other players.

On the Eagles chances against Argentina, Beke said: “ Our chance with Argentina is bright, because we have come across them severally, especially in International football.
