KANO-Uneasy calm has pervaded the entire city of Kano following unsubstantiated reports that INEC had allegedly connived with the outgoing administration of Governor Ibrahim Shekarau to doctor sensitive materials in favour of the All Nigerian Peoples Party.

The tension was fuelled by claims by the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, that its closest rival in the last gubernatorial election had obtained a court injunction allowing it to carry out forensic test on materials used for the election, adding that it order was “frivolous and injurious to their interest’.

A statement issued by the spokesman of the Governor-elect, Malam Jafar Jafar, alleged that ANPP had flown an American forensic expert and secretly sought order from a court to enable it gain access to the ballots at the state INEC state headquarters

Jafar explained that the court order and the forensic analysis were being carried out secretly without the knowledge of the other parties.

However, the Administrative Secretary of INEC in the state, Ismaila Boyi Kaura said INEC will not connieve  with any political party to thwart a popular mandate earned through a free and fair process.
