All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, has blamed the current political dilemma bedevilling the South-East geo-political zone on the poor political insight and lack of strategic thinking of Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, governors in the zone.

APGA made its position known in statement by its National Publicity Secretary, Mr. Benard Akoma, who disclosed that the governors and other leaders of PDP in the zone had displayed lukewarm approach to the need to fill existing prominent positions allotted to the zone by the party.

It pointed out that their selfish tendencies prompted the recent slight of the zone by the party in the recent zoning arrangement.

The statement read: “For instance, regarding the office of the party’s National Chairman zoned to South-East earlier, the exit of Okwesilieze Nwodo naturally called for immediate replacement by another candidate from the zone.

“But the leaders from the zone dilly-dallied until the party began to tinker with the issue of which zone holds which position in the current administration of President Goodluck Jonathan.

“It is really unfortunate that these delays are not unconnected with the self-centred considerations of PDP governors from the zone not to have any authority higher than theirs representing the zone at the national level.

“On several occasions, the governors have been accused of showing reluctance in supporting interested aspirants from the zone to the position of chairmanship of the party for fear of producing another power base in the zone.”
