BENIN – AS the battle for the Speakership of the Edo State House of Assembly hots up, the leadership of the Action Congress of Nigeria, ACN, in Edo Central senatorial district, has warned against ceding the position to Edo South which produced the Deputy Governor of the state.
This comes as the State House of Assembly yesterday, passed a motion approving the amendment of the House Rule 9 Sub (1) and (2) which influences the constitution of membership into the Parliamentary Officers Council (POC) at the State Assembly.
In a statement yesterday by Esan Vanguard for Justice, signed by its President and General Secretary James Ibhade and Ailurio Okoh, the group argued that the political situation in the state was already to the disadvantage of the Central district, with the governor having sacked most of the political office holders from the area.
Vanguard gathered that the leadership of the party may have ceded the Speakership to Edo South due to the overwhelming support the Bini gave to the party in the just concluded general elections.
However, the Esan leaders argued that Governor Adams Oshiomhole is from Edo North, his deputy, Pius Odubu, Edo South.
