Owerri -The Catholic Bishop of Assumpta Cathedral, Owerri, Bishop Anthony Obinna, has said that Mr. Rochas Okorocha’s victory was a divine mandate.
Obinna said in his church sermon on Sunday, that only God could establish a kingdom and crown a king for it.
He said that God’s intervention in the Imo election was a lesson to politicians in the state.
He said: “The devil had concluded his arrangements to instigate crisis in the state using the election as instrument, but God disappointed his plans.”
The clergyman said that if the devil had succeeded in his ugly plans in the state, many homes would have been mourning their loved relatives who might have died in the process.
Obinna stressed that politics was not a do-or-die affair, adding that enmity and casting aspersions should not be encouraged among politicians.
He, however, urged the governor-elect to embrace his opponents and accommodate their contributions in his administration.
He also advised politicians to support Okorocha in his task of taking the state to another level.
