Borno PDP accuses INEC, security agencies of electoral malpractices

BY BEN AGANDE

ABUJA – The Borno State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has accused the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, and security personnel of connivance with the state branch of the All Nigerian Peoples Party, ANPP, to deny its candidate victory in the April 26 governorship election.

Addressing newsmen in Abuja weekend, the Director General of Goni Campaign Organisation, Mohammed Kumalia, said the Second Republic governor of old Borno State won the April 26 gubernatorial election with 450,000 of the lawful votes, saying the mandate of the people would be recovered at the election tribunal.

He said apart from the governorship election which the party would challenge at the tribunal, it would also challenge 14 House of Assembly seats which, he claimed, were wrongly awarded to the All Nigeria Peoples Party.

According to Kumalia, apart from “aiding and abetting the massive rigging that gave the ANPP victory in the election”, the INEC governorship election Returning Officer in the state “brazenly ignored the PDP’s protest over the massive malpractices in eight local government areas during the election”.
