Following the seeming return of peace of cote d’Ivoire after months of fighting, Access Bank Plc has announced the resumption of its operations in the country.

The resumption which is scheduled to begin from May 9, 2011, according to a statement signed by Segun Fafore of the Corporate Affairs unit, is coming on the heels of a comprehensive review of its operations in the country to ensure that it contributes significantly to the general growth plan of the Group.

According to Fafore, during the period when our operations were suspended, the bank undertook a comprehensive review of its operations in Cote d’Ivoire and particularly its area of greatest opportunity to enable Access Bank Cote d’Ivoire operations make significant contributions to the overall Group performance.

”Consequent upon this strategic review,” he continued, “we have determined that our hitherto broad approach to serving all segments (corporate, retail, government, etc) in the Ivoirian economy does not align with our strength and is constraining us from achieving our market penetration objectives.
