Nigeria’s fairy tale run at the ICC Pepsi World Cricket League Division 7 going on in Botswana was punctuated by Kuwait yesterday. The Nigerian team lost by 9 wickets to Kuwait.

Kuwait won the toss and forced Nigeria to bat first.

Against a strong Kuwaiti field Nigeria in her innings managed a paltry153 runs all out.

Shaun Philips still held his own as he scored 75 runs. He was ably assisted by Onikoyi 20 and Kunle Adegbola 17. The Nigeria batting order fell irretrievably as the Kuwaiti field restricted them to 153.
In reply the Kuwaiti team scored 156 with 9 wickets to spare.

On receiving the news, President of the Nigeria Cricket Federation, Kwesi Sagoe said, “ïn cricket, like in every other sport you never can say. Kuwait is a strong side and we are a still learning.”

He however, noted that the Nigerian team was caught off guard when Kuwait ‘forced’ them to bat first, “knowing that bowling was our strength. We will bounce back,” he assured.

Nigeria will today take on Japan in continuation of the league.
