The new airline, First Nation Airways, might not have an easy take- off from the reports that it has not been certified to fly by the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) and that it has to clear the debt of the Bellview Airline from whose ashes it is coming out.

Director-General, Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), Dr Harold Demuren, who disclosed this in Lagos, said  that it was wrong for anybody to say that First Nation Airline was being given a preferential treatment by NCAA.

He said “all airlines in Nigeria would be made to face the same baptism as experienced by Arik Air when it underwent re-certification. Gone are the days when airlines got Airline Operating Certificate (AOC) over night.”

At the moment, it has flown 20 hours and until the rest 30 hours are concluded, the AOC won’t be issued, Demuren added.

Demuren added that the  aircraft of First Nation Airways – formed out of the defunct Bellview Airlines – may be seized if it flies to Europe.
