LAFIA—Barely 24 hours after he was declared winner by the Independent National Electoral Commission,INEC, in the gubernatorial election in Nasarawa State, CPC’s Governor-Elect, Alhaji Tanko Almakura, has promised to reopen all shut hospitals as a result of strike.
Almakura, who made the promise, Thursday, in Lafia, appealed to the striking doctors to immediately return to work as their demands would be looked into.
He said: “Be assured that our government will look into your demands so that we can address them expeditiously when we assume office in order to restore an effective and a viable health care delivery system.”
On the outcome of the elections,Almakura commended other contestestants, especially Governor Aliyu Akwe Doma for what he described as a vibrant contest.
He, however, declared that there was no loser in the contest as everything was done for the best interest of the state.
“There are no winners or losers in this contest. It is a victory for the people of Nasarawa State and the incoming CPC administration will be an all-inclusive government for those who believe in service”, he said.
On how he intends to handle the present administration of Doma which he has been critical of before now, he said despite the criticisms which were not personal, he now had the opportunity to benefit from those mistakes and will try to avoid them in order to provide better performance to the people of the state.
“There will be no any incident of revenge or prejudice or negative feelings about anybody who probably has not voted for me or share a different view from me because I am duty bound to dispense this administration with fairness and justice”.
