Delta State PDP Campaign Council  said , Saturday, that the Democratic Peoples Party DPP has recruited 1,000 persons to cause confusion and rig  the gubernatorial  poll in the state.

The director general of the council, Chief Paulinus Akpeki, who made the allegation while fielding questions from newsmen in Asaba, said the DPP also planned to use fake military men to foment trouble during the election.

He said those recruited were mainly students within  Delta and neighboring states to, among other things, intimidate eligible voters in the election.

In furtherance of the alleged plan, Akpeki explained that the DPP had procured arms and ammunition as well as sewn fake camouflage army uniforms for use by the already recruited political thugs to harass the electorate during the election.

He said, under the alleged plan, the mayhem is supposed to be carried out in Delta north and central senatorial districts. Akpeki therefore urged the police high command and other security agencies to be vigilant in other to nip the alleged plan in the bud and allow for a free, fair and credible poll.

He reaffirmed the preparedness of the PDP for the election, saying that the PDP will win Delta overwhelmingly because of the goodwill of the people  for the PDP,  coupled with rising political profile of Dr. Emmanuel Uduaghan and the PDP House of Assembly  candidates  in the election.

He appealed to Deltans to resist any attempt to be intimidated during the election, saying that they should go out and vote for the PDP to sustain the tempo of development in the state.
